MARY ANN FORTUNES DANCE STUDIO

Welcome to Mary Ann Fortune’s Dance Studio located in Mechanicville, N.Y. The studio is easily accessible from points south (Albany) to north (Saratoga Springs) with many cities and towns in between. Mary Ann Fortune’s Dance Studio is proud to announce the 46th season of dance instruction beginning September of 2020. Classes are offered in tap, ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, and gymnastics with levels of instruction from beginners, advanced beginners, intermediate, and advanced. Ages begin with preschool, elementary, preteen, teen, senior, and adult. The studio has a spacious lobby with three large studios and an additional space reserved for solos, duos and trios. All studios have wood flooring and wall to wall mirrors.

The faculty are highly trained instructors who have taught and or danced professionally for many years and are eager to share their LOVE of DANCE to the student. To become a dancer, solid technique is important and therefore, it is up to the instructor to provide the highest quality of instruction. Along this path, the instructor must also be very supportive and encouraging to help the student succeed.

MARY ANN FORTUNES DANCE CLASSES

Mary Ann Fortune's Dance Studio provides the atmosphere for the student to progress and to also feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. As instructors, we are given the opportunity to nurture the student and then watch them develop the artistry and skill to become that DANCER. Whether it be for the pure enjoyment of dance as recreational or possibly professional Mary Ann Fortune's Dance would be honored to have that opportunity to instruct your child.

Classes are offered Monday through Friday with mid-morning, after school, and evening classes. Saturday classes are also available.

TAP DANCE CLASSES

An art form that can be heard. Your feet are the musical instruments and through shading, the dancer can create the dynamics of sound and through syncopation various rhythms.

BALLET CLASS

Elegant, beautiful, and seemingly effortless, ballet is a very traditional Western dance form that requires strength, precision, and dedication from its students.

HIP HOP CLASSES

HIP Hop is a style of dance that originated from street dancers and break dancing. Since then it has evolved into an art form seen in many music videos, stage and screen.

JAZZ CLASSESS

Jazz dance is an umbrella term encompassing several different styles of dance that became popular in the early 20th-century with mixed roots of both African and European traditions.

LYRICAL CLASSES

This style of dance is a fusion of ballet, jazz, and contemporary. A lyrical dancer will become emotionally connected to the music and will use movement to convey the emotional content.

CONTEMPORARY CLASSES

This style of dance is very expressive and combines the elements of modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet connecting the mind and body through fluid dance movements.

GYMNASTICS DANCE CLASSES

Focus of class is to build agility and strength through basic to advanced tumbling skills. Class begins with center floor warm up, then tumbling and apparatus work.
